Yesterday Donald Trump had a very bad, terrible, no good day. He declared to the world that the US couldn’t pay for healthcare or daycare because we had wars to conduct, wars that aren’t anyone’s choice but his (and Lindsey Graham’s, I guess). He gave a disastrous speech on prime time television where he looked and sounded old and washed up. Even Alex Jones called him a washed up has-been.
So today he needed something to help stroke his bruised ego and change the subject maybe. Hmmmm, what to do, what to do?
I KNOW, he can fire Pam Bondi, which is what he did, announcing it in a Truth Social post.
After lying and saying Bondi was such a great “Patriot” and loyal friend, he extolled her “tremendous job overseeing a ‘massive crackdown’ in Crime across our Country, with Murders plummeting to their lowest level since 1900.”
Then he lowered the boom. “We love Pam, and she will be transitioning to a much needed and important new job in the private sector, to be announced at a date n teh near future, and our Deputy Attorney General, and a very talented and respected Legal Mind, Todd Blanche, will step in to serve as Acting Attorney General.”
Ending as always, “Thank you for your attention to this matter! President DONALD J. TRUMP”
As an aside: His choice of capitalization is always bizarre and weird.
So…there are some theories out there about why Bondi was fired and why now.
One theory is that she did it to duck the subpoena of the Oversight Committee, but that subpoena doesn’t vaporize just because she’s no longer in government as Rep. Maxwell Frost noted.
Another theory I saw floating around was that he was mad she tipped off Eric Swalwell about the plan to dump the FBI investigative files about his “relationship” with the Chinese operative from around 10-15 years ago. I very much doubt she tipped him off about anything. It’s not her style.
My theory is much simpler: He needed a head to roll to feel better after yesterday, and Bondi was there. He likes to fire women, too. Tulsi Gabbard’s head is up next, I’m guessing.
What is remarkable about Bondi is that he didn’t just reassign her to an Ambassadorship somewhere. She is 100 percent out of government, period, no discussion.
