Trump Is An Undeserving President To Honor Our Fallen Heroes On Memorial Day.

Going back multiple generations, no member of the Trump family ever volunteered or answered the call for military service. Donald Trump applied for deferrment 5 times, the fifth time citing bone spurs rendered him disabled to serve.

During his first term as president, Trump refused to attend a service at a cemetery in Paris, France where American servicemen killed in World War I were buried. In a conversation with senior staff members on the morning of the scheduled visit, Trump said, “Why should I go to that cemetery? It’s filled with losers.” In a separate conversation on the same trip, Trump referred to the more than 1,800 marines who lost their lives at Belleau Wood as “suckers” for getting killed.” Referring to fallen soldiers as ” losers and suckers” should have ended his presidency. This attitude should disqualify any person to serve as Commander-in-Chief.

This comment proved what a sissy, vicious, un- American Donald Trump is. Every elected official who continued to support him after that statement does not deserve to serve in Congress. Voters who continued to support him after he disparaged Senator John McCain’s heroism in battle and in capture should doubt their love of country. Still loving Trump, who has had a habit of disparaging veterans killed in battle is disgusting. Possibly the most shallow, cruel, arrogant man in the world said this about the men and women who have been maimed and disabled fighting wars to protect our country. During preparations for a proposed 2018 military parade in Washington, D.C., Trump reportedly told senior staff and military advisors that he “wanted wounded veterans, particularly amputees in wheelchairs, excluded from the event. Trump allegedly stated that injured veterans did “not look good” for him and that “nobody wants to see that”. ( Denver Gazette, 2018).

Trump lies. He says he loves our military, but like with most topics he comments on, he says what sounds good, what he thinks people want to hear, and what will win him support. Cutting benefits for veteran services is evidence that he does not have a heartfelt connection to people who wear the uniform, risk their lives, and suffer financial problems due to their military service.
