Republican Majority whip Tom Emmer was reduced to spewing John Birch Society conspiracies while also confusing socialism with communism for the sole purpose of smearing the Democratic party, after he failed to blame Biden for Trump’s horrific economy.
Emmer reminded me of a scene in the great movie Chinatown when Faye Dunaway telling Jack Nicholson, “She’s my daughter… She’s my sister!
Like every Republican going on television interviews heading into the midterms, Emmer pretended the affordability crisis for most Americans is a hoax and blamed the media for refusing to report on how bad Biden’s economy.
This lie is amplified by all cult members to glorify Demented Donald even though conservative media receives many more viewers than mainstream media.
“Are you saying people don’t get it, that the economy is much better?” host Jonathan Karl asked.
“John, I hate to point the finger at you and the other journalists, but have you reported that under Joe Biden, the average was over $5 a gallon. Under Donald Trump, he’s pulled it all the way back, even with the action that had to be taken to make sure that Iran never has a nuclear weapon,” Emmer said.
The Majority Whip then cited economic numbers out of context which he could lie about to make Trump’s economy appear like it’s mana from heaven, instead of putting people in the poor house.
“But you guys don’t report this stuff. So I’m not saying the American people don’t get it,” Emmer’s lied. “They don’t get the truth from the people that are reporting it.”
When Biden was in office all the media talked about was inflation, inflation, inflation.
Karl finally stopped his rant after it went on too long.
“I mean, look, as you well know, the price of gas is higher today than it was the day that Joe Biden left office. So certainly inflation was a huge issue in the last administration,” he said. “It’s also a big issue to the American people here right now.”
Trump’s been in office almost two years and the economy was soaring under Biden when Trump took over.
Emmer was forced to admit gas and diesel prices are unacceptable, but then he revived the ghost of the 1950’s and 60’s.
“But it’s not enough to vote for communists,” Emmer snapped.
Instead of being an actual competent host, Karl laughed it off and said, “So I think most Democrats would say they’re they’re they’re they’re not communists. So there aren’t a lot of communists on the ballot.”
It’s not most Democrats, Jonathan. It’s the fucking truth.
There are no communists on the ballot, asswipe.
None.
Karl should have turned into a fact-checker, but he didn’t and it’s such an easy lie to undo.
Still, Emmer had a meltdown.

KARL: You do have some Democratic socialists.
OK, let me get to — to on.
EMMER: Jon — Jon, you just called them what they want you to call him.
There’s nothing Democratic about socialism.
For 100 years, they wanted us to call them progressives, when, in fact, they were socialists. And it wasn’t cool to admit you’re a socialist. They are now communists and Marxists.
