Mayor Mamdani Just Wiped The FLOOR With JD Vance

The Trump Administration as a whole has this pesky little habit of looking at someone else’s wins — especially a Democrat’s — then pointing and telling the world, “Hey! Look what I did!” and clearly, Trump’s Vice President JD Vance is no exception to this rule, after he shamelessly attempted to take all the credit for a slew of major wins in New York.

But I’d bet you my bottom dollar that he’s regretting that move right about now, after Mayor Mamdani caught wind of his little less-than-humble brag.

In a social media post, VP Vance published a graphic showing record-low crime in New York City, along with a few other figures, including “Working Families Tax Cuts” and “Historic Investments.”

“We got your back, New York!” Vance captioned the image, hailing from the Trump White House.

Almost instantly, X users got a hold of him with a community note, letting other viewers know that many of the figures the VP is touting as Trump Administration success in NYC “aren’t federal results.”

But that was nothing compared to the mayor’s response.

With not an ounce of additional commentary or context, Mamdani responded to Vance’s claims with a viral video showing a man in a yellow vest pretending to stop a subway train with his bare hands, then placing his hand on the train’s automatic doors and “opening” them.

The video has long been used across the internet to make fun of people taking credit for something they didn’t actually do—exactly as JD Vance just did.

Mamdani’s video is currently at nearly 40 million views and counting.

New York City actually has experienced its lowest violent crime rates in history, with a recent announcement from the NYPD confirming that, in the first nine months of 2026, the city has logged its fewest shootings and murders in recorded history. That is certainly a huge win, but it has absolutely nothing to do with JD Vance or Donald J. Trump.

Zohran Mamdani has served as the mayor of New York City since January 1st of this year.

But sure, JD. Whatever helps you sleep at night, I guess.
