Is it possible that QAnon was right all along? Have our celebrities been replaced by better-for-the-brand doppelgangers? It might sound silly, but how else can you explain Noel Gallagher performing alongside his brother for months and coming away with a sunny outlook?
The Oasis guitarist called in to the UK radio show “talkSPORT” on Tuesday, looking to comment on the first-place Manchester City F.C. The soccer team’s place in the Premier League standings had the typically cantankerous rock star in a great mood, and that held when talk turned to his ongoing reunion tour.
“It’s been truly amazing. I’m not usually short for words,” he said.
The Gallagher brothers have made a bit of a sport out of ragging on each other in the press. Their famously contentious relationship made an Oasis reunion seem like an impossibility, until it wasn’t. Speaking on Tuesday, Noel Gallagher said that Liam was “smashing it” and added that he’s “proud” of his brother.
“I couldn’t do the stadium thing like he does it. I kind of look around and I think, ‘You know, good for you, mate.’ He’s been amazing,” he said. “It’s great being back in a band with Liam. I forgot how funny he was.”
Elsewhere in the interview, Noel Gallagher revealed early hiccups in his return to massive stadium shows. He said that he was overwhelmed during his first reunion tour performance and that his “legs turned to jelly about halfway through the second song.”
“I grossly underestimated what I was getting into. After about five minutes, I was like, ‘All right, can I just go back to the dressing room and start this again?’” he said. I could have gone back and taken a minute. It’s been an amazing thing.”
