Attorney General Todd Blanche offered a hollow, specious argument to claim he would never be independent of Trump’s White House. His response was as unintelligible as his actions have been since he was began serving in the DOJ.
Meet The Press host Kristin Welker began her interview by asking Blanche, who was Trump’s former personal attorney if he can be truly independent of Trump’s White House.
“You, of course, used to be President Trump’s former personal defense attorney,” Welker stated. “Can you pledge that the Justice Department will always act independently of the White House?”
It should be an easy question for any Attorney General to answer. He could have easily said, ‘I’m sworn to uphold the United States Constitution and the laws that govern it.’ Or he could have said that the Attorney General is the attorney for the people.
That wouldn’t be the case for Todd.
“Well, there’s a big difference between saying we will always do our job and investigate any case and act independently of the White House,” he replied, as smooth as a snake slithering through the jungle. “No, I’m not going to pledge that and no attorney general should ever pledge that.”
Huh? Since Todd has been part of Trump’s DOJ, all he has done is bow to Trump’s wishes, including covering up the Epstein Files, indicting Trump’s enemies, trying to cut a deal with Ghislaine Maxwell, agreeing to create a 1.776 billion dollar slush fund, and to give Trump and his family immunity from the IRS.
That is certainly not serving as attorney for the people, or upholding the U.S. Constitution.
Blanche’s response was as laughable as his claims of impartiality are.
“If I were to pledge I will be independent of the White House, what that means is that if President Trump says, ‘I want the Department of Justice to go after every violent criminal in this country,’ which is what he has said, what you’re saying to me is I should say, no, sir, not going to do it,” Blanche replied.
That’s your job. To prosecute criminals. You don’t need an order from the White House to do that.
Blanche also whined that the media is mean to him.
“This narrative that’s mostly pushed by the left and pushed by the media, that the president’s going to pull me aside and ask me to do something illegal is completely a false narrative, not true, will not happen and hasn’t happened,” he said.
It’s not illegal for Trump to ask Blanche to look into prosecuting Letitia James, Jack Smith, David Hearn, and those that have investigated him for his immorality and criminality.
It’s not illegal for Trump to discuss giving Epstein partner Ghislaine Maxwell certain privileges if she cleared him of being with underage girls.
Blanche is a blight on the U.S. justice system.
