Now that her husband has left Fox News, Rachel Campos-Duffy is almost certainly the stupidest host at the network.
That stupidity and/or dishonesty were on full display Thursday morning as she slobbered over Donald Trump’s attempt to bribe Americans into voting Republican by dangling the prospect of a $5,000 “dividend” to every adult citizen if Republicans keep control of Congress in the upcoming midterm elections.
Trump is not paying out of the billions he has glommed from his current stint in the White House. He’s trying to bribe us with our own money. Never mind that it would likely cost us more than $1 trillion of government money, according to The New York Times or that the scheme is also blatantly illegal.
There was nothing not to love if you’re Campos-Duffy, wife of Trump’s transportation secretary and possibly hoping to become the next press secretary.
“This just shows just how creative and rule-breaking and out of the box President Trump is,” Campos-Duffy raved. “I’m surprised no one has thought of this before.”
Actually, someone has thought of this before, Rachel. Probably quite a lot of someones, as it has been made a crime in the U.S. Code.
But if Campos-Duffy cared at all about the law, she would never be cheerleading for President 34 Felony Convictions in the first place.
The Fox host called it “a great way” for Trump to “sort of get that momentum, push things forward,” as she also acknowledged he’s facing headwinds in the midterms, though only because he’s the incumbent. Not at all because his approval ratings are in the tank.
“I think this was a brilliant idea on their part,” Campos-Duffy added.
In any event, nobody should hold their breath for a check even if Republicans hold on to both chambers of Congress. Before he became notorious for being Jeffrey Epstein’s BFF, Trump was notorious for stiffing people.
I’m still waiting for my $2,000 tariff rebate and my $5,000 DOGE rebate that he promised last year. Ditto for the full release of the Epstein files. How about you?
