In a 17-minute interview on Fox Business Election Day morning, Energy Secretary Chris Wright joined three Fox cheerleaders to argue that Donald Trump is doing such a great job that you should just put up (indefinitely) with having to choose between filling your gas tank, heating your home, buying groceries, and other necessities.
“Look, this is what capitalism is all about,” Wright, a guy who has probably never worried about paying for anything, lectured.
Then he claimed that the rest of us should be glad to be struggling. “Prices are high. The best cure for high prices is high prices. It grows supply, and so supply is growing,” Wright added.
He did not say a word in the entire interview about how people are supposed to get by in the meantime. It’s not as if Trump is doing anything to act like he’s even interested in helping. Also, reporting has indicated Trump plans to escalate against Iran, which would almost certainly send energy prices even higher.
In other words, we should just grin and bear it while energy companies like the one Wright came from make a killing.
